After Cézanne No. 2

This stunning gouache study of Cézanne's 'Boy in Red Waistcoat' is one of my personal favourites. 

Possessing the painterly style typical of post-impressionist art, this piece captures a pensive young person lost in their own thoughts and waiting on a thing unknown. 

Filled with clever colour choices (slightly different to the original) and soft, gestural brush strokes, this artwork has both a stillness and a gentle rhythm to it.
