Figs

There is a subtle surrealism to this still life that makes it an eye catching artwork. 

The contrast between the figurative style figs, the flat, graphic style of the table cloth and the soft, dream-like background is what gives this a not-quite-real feel. 

Painted predominantly in blues and purples, the artwork has a boldness that is balanced carefully by the hazy, muted colours in the background. 

I had a lot of fun creating this piece and I particularly enjoyed painting the leaves and tablecloth. It's a pretty experimental painting for me - far from my usual style - but I'm really pleased with how it turned out.
