Plums on Plate

Capturing the essence of a family picnic with just one plate. Although this mini, textured, oil pastel painting is a close up of fresh fruit on a striped tablecloth, you can almost sense the scene around it. 

Scattered green leaves sets us outdoors. Cool blue tones for the shady spot the food is laid out in. Warm reds peeking through, radiating the underlying summer heat. But, best of all, the out of focus strokes towards the top and the right that gives the feeling of movement and things happening just beyond the page.

Perhaps loved ones gathered and children playing as the sun starts to set.
