Tomatoes With Blue

What started as a soft, orange sketch and ended as a bold, modern still life of tomatoes on the vine. 

The entire painting is an art of balance. Plump and vibrant red tomatoes take centre stage surrounded by lots of white to give it space. The trail of a blue cloth is merely suggested - allowing the art to float - whilst the brown, wooden bowl anchors it all down. Scattered basil leaves and sliced tomatoes add extra visual interest and freshness. Overall we are left with an energising artwork. 

This painting was an experimental piece inspired by my sketchbook art where things often look great even when 'unfinished'. I love how it turned out and think it's brilliant for interiors that are a mix of both minimalism and confident colour.
